SPRING NEWSLETTER 2012

Dear Friends

The Spring Get Together will be held at The Parkway Sports and Social Clubs, Ernesettle Lane, Ernesettle, Plymouth on Saturday 26th May 2012, between 1100 and 1500.

Firstly may I say a big thank you to all who attended the Christmas Get Together on the 10th December last year.  It proved to be one of the largest attendances since our foundation in 1993.  My wife Ann would like to thank all who parted with their loose change to raise a total of £100 for the Children’s Hospice South West.  Our thanks also to Pauline Elliott for our wonderful buffet and all of you who donated raffle prizes; I think the raffle draw lasted almost an hour.

In our Autumn Newsletter 2009 I informed you of Serco Denholm’s withdrawal of their sponsorship of our website and appealed for members to sponsor the cost of a month’s subscription (approximately £12.00).  The overwhelming response enabled the www.rmasassociation.co.uk domain name to survive, until now.  So to enable our website to continue to exist we are once again appealing to you for your help.  If you wish to sponsor (any amount would be gratefully received) please make cheques payable to RMAS Association and forward them to me at the address below, or bring them along on 26th May.

Please continue to lend us your photographs, or send us anything you consider would be of interest to the membership and others who visit our website.

Don’t forget if you wish to reserve an exclusive 2013 calendar ring me with your order.  Only limited numbers of copies will be available, again the cost remains at £4.99 (plus postage if required).

With the ever increasing cost of postage we are asking our members who are able to receive their Newsletters by email to opt to receive future copies electronically via our Mailing List.  To sign up to electronic copies of the Newsletter let us know by contacting Brian with your email address at rmasassociation@virginmedia.co.uk or via the contacts on website.  By signing up to the Mailing list you will also get news and information from the Association throughout the year rather than waiting for Newsletters.

Sunday 10th June 2012 is the date for our annual Day Trip, this year we are going to Weston Super Mare and this will include an early evening carvery at the Gisson’s Inn.  For more information again contact me at the contact details below.

Hopefully our annual Boat Jolly will take place on Friday 27th July 2012 at 1030 for a 2 hour cruise and afterward meet for a meal at a venue yet to be arranged. If you wish to take advantage of this free cruise, ring me and book your place.

Our popular 5 day coach trip holiday this year is to The Cotswolds, staying at The Fownes Hotel in Worcester, departing on Monday 3rd September and returning on Friday 7th September 2012, with a full package of excursions.  The cost, which is again subsidised by the Association, will be £265.00 per person.  Again if you are interested please contact me as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Sadly since our last Newsletter we have lost John Lucking (November, aged 63), Roy Allen (November, aged 80), Dougie Melrose (December, aged 87), Clifford Robinson (December, aged 84); Eddie McCann (December, aged 66), Dave Eyres (January, aged 72), Pete McCooey (January, aged 75), Terry Reagan (January, aged 77), Colin Jenkins (January, aged 62) and Bob Hancock (February, aged 79).  Many of you attended their funerals and their families would like to thank you through this Newsletter.
